The research of the Digital Signal Processing, Multimedia, and Optical Communications Group (COMLAB) at the University of Roma TRE, is mainly focused on information theory, signal theory, and signal and image processing and their applications to both telecommunications systems. In particular the current activity concerns: Multimedia communications, Mobile communications, Optical communications, Telecommunication systems security, Satellite positioning Systems & applications, E-learning & Mobile-learning, 3G networks and services, Wireless systems, Signal processing for communications.

UNIROMA3 is a partner in the RadioLabs Consortium (Consorzio Università Industria – Laboratori di Radiocomunicazioni), a non-profit Consortium created in 2001 to promote tight cooperation on applied research programs between universities and industries, and currently linking the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, the University of Roma Tre, The University of Aquila, Selex Es S.p.A., and Ansaldo STS. Collaborations with the research and development centres of major telecommunications companies and operators (Ericsson, HP, Alcatel Alenia Space, WIND, TIM, Telecom Italy LAB, etc.) are also active. Strong scientific co-operations are also with international universities (Tampere University of Technology, Polytech’ Nantes, UCSB, EURECOM, Telecom Paris Tech, etc.).
